Miami University Rallies to Top Monarchs, 64-57

BAYAMON, Puerto Rico (AP) (Nov. 24) -- Old Dominion was led by Michael Williams with 13 points. Rasheed Wright had 12 points and Pierre Green added 10 but Old Dominion fell to Miami University 64-57 in a consolation game at the Puerto Rico Shootout.

Alex Shorts scored 26 points for Miami University.

Miami trailed 33-26 at halftime, but tied the score at 37 with 16:01 left on Matt Jameson's layup.

Old Dominion used an 8-1 run to retake the lead, but Miami again scrambled back to tie and eventually go up 60-55.

Jason Grunkemeyer added 14 points for Miami, and Mike Ensminger had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Miami outrebounded Old Dominion, 32-18.

Miami plays Indiana State on Saturday for fifth place. Indiana State beat American University of Puerto Rico 85-58 Friday.

Miami coach Charlie Coles, whose team was 15-15 last season but lost four starters, said his team learned a lesson from Thursday's 60-59 loss to Memphis.

"We had more poise tonight in the stretch," Coles said. "We made more defensive stops. Last night, every time we would get close we would make silly mistakes.'"

The Monarchs will play host American University at PuertoRico at 10 am eastern time Saturday. Old Dominion playedwithout freshman point guard Troy Nance who injured hisleft ankle in Thursday night's game against Stanford.He is still questionable for Saturday.
