WILLIAMSBURG, VA. (September 17, 2000) -- Junior forward Melanie McGovern (Somerdale, NJ.) netted a goal with seven seconds left in the match to give the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion University a 3-2 victory over Seton Hall in the William and Mary Soccer Classic. The Lady Monarchs are 4-3, Seton Hall drops to 3-4.
Old Dominion led at halftime, 1-0 as Jen Henley (Chalfont, Pa.)scored on an assist from Johanna Thompson. In the second half Frauke Dittel tied the match for Seton Hall at one. With 19 minutes left Jen Henley put the Lady Monarchs up 2-1 on an assist from McGovern, but the Pirates tied it up one as Jacelyn Dumaresq scored on a penalty kick. Old Dominion outshot Seton Hall, 14-7.
The Lady Monarchs return to action on Wednesday night when they host George Washington at 7 p.m.
