NORFOLK, VA. (June 10) - Old Dominion University freshman outfielder BrentSollenberger (Chambersburg, PA.) has been selected Honorable Mention FreshmanAll-American by COLLEGIATE BASEBALL. Sollenberger is the ninth Monarchnewcomer to earn this honor since 1985.
Sollenberger hit .303 for the Monarchs this year while playingrightfield. He alsoplayed ten games at second base. Sollenberger knocked in 39 runs and scored 49times which was fourth best on the team. He hit .364 in the CAA Tournament and.337 in 21 regular season CAA games. His fielding percentage was .970.
Old Dominion was 33-24-1 this season, tied for first in the CAA regularseason(14-7) and earned the top seed in the league tournament. The Monarchs earnedan at-large bid to the NCAA, their fifth bid since 1990.
