Hummel Named Louisville Slugger Division I All American

TUCSON, AR. (May 26, 2000) -- Old Dominion junior shortstop Tim Hummel (Montgomery, NY) was named first team Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American today as announced by Collegiate Baseball. The honor is the second such award bestowed upon the 2000 CAA Player and Defensive Player of the Year as he was previously voted first team All-American by Baseball Weekly.

Heading into this weekends NCAA Tournament first round at Clemson, SC, Hummel was batting .403 and leading the Monarchs in doubles (21), RBI (68), walks (58), slugging (.630) and on-base percentage (.520), and ranked second on the team in average, homers (8), hits (87) and stolen bases (21). Hummel is the first Monarch since George Sells (90) to be named first team All-American in baseball.

He is joined on the first team by All-CAA performers Cory Scott (East Carolina) and Jason Dubois (VCU).
