Troilo's Homer Lifts Monarchs Past N.C. State, 9-8

RALEIGH, NC (April 12) - Senior centerfielder, Joe Troilo (Avondale, Pa.) led off thetop of the ninth with a solo homer to left center field to break a eight all tieand give the Monarchs of Old Dominion a 9-8 victory over N.C. State on Wednesday, April 12. The Monarchs are now 20-16-1 andthe Wolfpack drop to 21-17.

Jeff Eure (Pillow, PA.) led the Monarchs with three runs batted in as heknocked in Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) in the third and knocked in Musolf andTim Hummel in the sixth. Tim Hummel (Montgomery, NY.) had three hits in fourtrips to the plate and Musolf had two hits in four at bats. Hummel is nowhitting .435. while Musolf is at .419.

Sophomore reliever Jon Tinkham (Chesapeake, Va.) picked up the win inrelief. He is now 3-0. Brian Wright led the Wolfpack with three hits, includinga solo homer inthe first inning. Dan Mooney also had three hits.

The Monarchs travel to Richmond, Va. for a three-game CAA series againstVirginia Commonwealth beginning at 7 p.m. Friday night at the Diamond.
