Foucht double home Justin Wishon, Blayne Joyner and Daniel Marsh in thethirdinning, then singled home Marsh and Joyner in the sixth inning which gave UNCW a10-9 lead. In the eighth with the game tied at ten, Foucht slammed a three-runhomerwith Marsh and Joyner aboard to give UNCW the lead for good. Reliver CharlieWeatherby came on in the fifth inning and allowed only one run and fanned eighttopick up the win.
Old Dominion's All-American candidate Tim Hummel (Montgomery, NY.) ledthe Monarchs with three hits and six runs batted in. He slammed a grand slamhomerwith Jeff Eure (Pillow, Pa.), Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, Pa.) and DavidVilardi (Fishkill, NY.) aboard in the second. He singled home Vilardi in thefirst and fourth innings. Hummel has now hit seven homers and two grand slamsthis year (the other against Princeton) and is hitting .427 with 48 rbi's. Hehit .556 this week with 16 runs driven in.
Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) also had three hits on the day for theMonarchs toput his batting average at .417. For UNCW, Justin Wishon had three hits andscoredthree times. Wishon reached base 12 times in the three-game series.
The Monarchs return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to N.C.Statefor a 7 p.m. contest in Raleigh, NC.
