Weaver, Monarchs Defeat JMU, 10-4

HARRISONBURG, VA. (April 1) - Old Dominion pounded out 14 hits and junior righthander ShawnWeaver (Loganton, Pa.) pitchedeight plus innings to lead the Monarchs to a 10-4 CAA winover James Madison April 1. ODU is now 17-13-1overall and 5-3 in the CAA. JMU drops to 21-12 overall and1-4 in the CAA.

Weaver fanned five, gave up seven of the nine hits to winhis fourth game of the season. Freshman Kevin Evans (Shamong, NJ.)finished up inthe ninth. For JMU's AdamWynegar, it was only his second loss of the season.

The Monarchs onlyhad one extra base hit as junior All-American candidateTim Hummel (Montgomery, NY) had four hits with two runsscored and two runs batted in.

Sophomore first baseman Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) ledODU with four runs batted in and three hits. Musolf is nowhitting .411. Jeff Eure (Pillow, Pa.) joined Hummel and Musolf with three hitson the day and knocked in a run.

On the defensive side, Monarch catcher Travis Silver (Weaverville, NC.) threwout three of five Dukes on thebase pads and drew four walks on the day.

T Riley and Rich Thompson led the Dukes with two hits andone run batted in each. The two teams play the third andfinal game of the series April 2 at 1 p.m. in Harrisonburg.
