WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 26) - The #19 Old Dominion University Monarchs stopped the Eaglesof American University, 16-7, in a Colonial Athletic Association contest March 26 at Reeves Field.
Old Dominion (3-5, 2-1 CAA) went on a 5-0 run to open the first half and setthe pace for the game. The tough shooting Monarchs held off the Eagles forthe first 12:00 of the half and out shot the Eagles 29-12 with seven differentplayers contributing to their second CAA victory.
American (2-5, 0-2 CAA) was led by Daione Takao's (Jr., Larchmont,NY/Mamaroneck) two goals and a goal and assist by Ashley Flanigan (Jr.,Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury). Also scoring for the Eagles were Nadia Harmsen(Fr., Buzzards Bay, MA/Tabor Academy), Karen McFarland (Sr., West Simsbury,CT/Simsbury), Laura Repoli (Fr., Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury), Jamie Crean(Fr., Bayshore, NY/Bayshore) who scored her first career goal. AU goalkeeperVicky Miller (Jr., Woodlyn, PA/Ridley) made 14 saves in her 60 minutes for the Eagles.
