Box Score

FAIRFAX, VA. (Jan. 15)(AP) -- George Evan's game-winning tip-in with three seconds remaining in overtime allowed George Mason to beat Old Dominion, 77-75.

Evans led George Mason (8-7, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) with 27 points to help the Patriots rally from a 13-point second half deficit and stretch George Mason's home winning streak to 16.

Old Dominion (6-11, 1-5) went on a 13-0 run midway through the second half only to watch the Patriots respond with a 14-0 run over the next three minutes and take a 63-62 lead with 1:19 remaining.

The Monarchs trailed 66-64 when George Mason's Keith Holdan hit a 3-pointer from the corner, but Andrew McCullum, who lead Old Dominion with 13 points, hit two free throws for the Monarchs with 13 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

It appeared the game was headed for a second overtime when Old Dominion's Clifton Jones tied the game with two free throws with 14 seconds remaining, but Evans' follow-up of a jumper by George Mason's Erik Herring, who scored five of his 12 points in overtime, sealed the win.

George Mason struggled in the first half, shooting only 35 percent from the floor, but the game's intensity increased when Evans and Old Dominion's Rasheed Wright were both called for technical fouls because of a shoving altercation after a hard foul by Wright with 13 minutes remaining in the game.

Old Dominion, which also got 13 points from Michael Williams, used a number of high percentage shots to make more than 46 percent of its shots in the first half to take a 34-28 halftime lead.
