Youngblood and Williams Lead Monarchs to Victory over New Orleans, 65-60

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) (December 11) -- Skipper Youngblood and Michael Williams led a balanced attack with 11 points apiece and Old Dominion bounced back aftersquandering a 17-point first-half lead Saturday night to beat New Orleans 65-60.

Trailing 39-25 at intermission, New Orleans rallied behind three field goals early in the second half by David Morin and a pair of 3-pointers by Desmond Baxter. They were part of a 27-10 run that gave the Privateers a 52-49 lead with 7:24 to play.

But Old Dominion (4-5) went on an 11-2 run over the next 5:41 to seal the win.

Clyde Ellis led New Orleans (2-4) with 14 points. Carlos Hines added 13 points and five rebounds.

The teams were tied at 54 when Michael Williams hit a 3-pointer for with 4:17 remaining that gave ODU the lead for good.

Junior guard Heath Burris, a walk-on came off the benchto score a career high ten points, eight in the first half.

The Monarchs break for exams, then host CAA rival UNCWilmington on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the fieldhouse.
