Old Dominion falls to UW-Green Bay in Holiday Hoops Tournament

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Nov.26)(AP) -- Wisconsin-Green Bay hit 9 of 10 free throws down the stretch to hold off Old Dominion, 76-64, in the second game of the SoCon Holiday Hoops Tournament.

The Phoenix (2-1) led by as many as 17 early in the second half, but Old Dominion (1-2) cut that to 59-53 with less than seven minutes to play with a 15-5 run. Andre McCullum scored seven of his team-high 22 points in the run. The 22 points and 11 rebounds is both a career high forMcCullum.

But the Phoenix rebuilt the lead to as high as 16 in large part at the free throw line. Senior B.J. LaRue, playing on an injured ankle, went 6-of-6 from the line in the final minutes and ended up with a team-high 20 points.

The Phoenix led by six early in the second half, but extended that to 17 with an 11-0 run that included consecutive 3-pointers by DeVante Blanks, Ryan Mueller and LaRue.

The Phoenix shot 48 percent for the game, but were 8-of-12 on 3-pointers. Old Dominion was 1-of-7 from long range.

Jerry Carstensen had 14 points for Wisconsin-Green Bay and Mike King added 12. Skipper Youngblood joined McCullum as the only Old Dominion players in double figures. He had 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Phoenix led 34-27 at halftime by hitting 3 of 4 3-pointers. Trailing 13-10, the Phoenix went on an 11-2 run to take a 21-15 lead. LaRue scored six in the run, including a 3-pointer. King also hit a 3-pointer in the run.
