NORFOLK, VA (Nov. 15) - The Old Dominion University field hockey team placed three players on the 1999 AstroTurf/NFHCA Division I South Regional All-American team, as announced Monday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Juinor Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argetina), senior Kim Miller (Virginia Beach, Va.), and sophomore Adrienne Yoder (Coopersburg, Pa.) were all named to the first team.
DiGiacomo is a three-time Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and CAA Tournament MVP. In 1999, she collected 40 goals and nine assists for 89 points, including a seven-goal effort in the two-game CAA Tournament. Over her three-year career, DiGiacomo has 104 goals, 55 assists, and 263 points. She stands fifth in points, seventh in goals, and 21st in assists on the all-time NCAA leader board. In Old Dominion history, she is second in points and goals, as well as seventh in assists.
This is Miller's third appearance on the All-South Region team. She is a two-time NFHCA All-American, third team in 1997 and second team in 1998. She has been named a three-time All-CAA first team selection, a two-time NCAA All-Tournament choice, and a two-time CAA All-Tournament honoree. This season, she netted 15 goals and 10 assists for 40 points. Miller finished her Old Dominion career with 82 goals (fourth all-time), 36 assists, and 200 points (third all-time).
This marks Yoder's first nod to the All-South Region team. The 1998 CAA co-Rookie of the Year, Yoder is a two-time All-CAA selection (second team in 1998, first team in 1999). She is a 1998 NFHCA Academic All-American. On her career, she has seven goals and 19 assists for 33 points.
All three players are automatically nominated for the 1999 AstroTurf/NFHCA All-America team. The announcement will be made Monday, November 22.
