McCullum Scores 28 In Monarchs Exhibition Loss

NORFOLK, VA. (NOV. 4) -- Andre McCullum (Whiteville, NC.) scored a game high 28 points andhauled in 11 rebounds in the Monarchs, 76-68 exhibition loss to Global Sports.

Senior center Skipper Youngblood added 14 points with ten boardsand three blocked shots.

The Monarchs, down ten at halftime, and 14 (52-38) with 18:03 left in thegame rallied and got to within one, 56-55with 8:44 remaining as McCullum hit four straight free throws. SteveMyers made a layup and two free throws by Jeron Roberts helped Global pull awaydown the stretch.

Global had fourplayers in double figures led by Steve Meyer (Texas San Antonio) and H.L.Coleman (Wyoming) with 11 points each.Coleman also hauled in nine rebounds and Rodney Odom (UNCCharlotte) added ten boards.

The Monarchs shot .393 from the floor and .529 (18-34)from the line. Old Dominion's defensive pressure forcedGLobal into 25 turnovers, while the youthful Monarchscommitted 16, only five in the second half.

The Monarchs return to action in a week when theyhost Court Authority in their final exhibition game.
