No. 6 Lady Monarchs Fall to No. 2 Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, MD (October 17) -- Old Dominion's sixth-ranked Lady Monarch field hockey squad was defeated by Maryland, 0-2. Old Dominiondrops to 11-6 on the season, while Maryland improves to 16-1, with its lone losscoming at the hands of ODU on Sept. 6 in Norfolk.

Maryland?s Krisy Palchinsky scored both goals for the Terps, with herfirst coming at 13:26 of the first half and her second with just 3:07 remaining inthe game. Maryland keeper Ashley Hohnstine recorded ten saves in the winning effort.

The Lady Monarchs - Mary Beth Freeman (Holland, PA) registered sixsaves. The Terps outshot Old Dominion, 15-11, and held a 9-7 advantage inpenalty corners.

Old Dominion will return to action on Saturday, October 23, as theyhost CAA-rival James Madison at Foreman Field at 1:00 pm.
