Lady Monarchs Blank VCU, 6-0

Richmond, Va. (Sept. 25) - The defending national champion Old Dominion field hockey team topped Colonial Athletic Association foe Virginia Commonwealth Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 victory at Cary Street Field in Richmond. The #7 Lady Monarchs improve to 6-3 overall (4-0 CAA) while the Rams fall to 1-6 overall (0-3 CAA).

Senior captain Kim Miller (Virignia Beach, Va.) found the back of the net for the game's lone goal in the first half, giving the Lady Monarchs the slim 1-0 at intermission. Miller connected on another goal in the second half. On the first half play, freshman Tiffany Snow (Escondido, Calif.) collected her first of three assists on the afternoon. She also collected a goal.

Junior captain Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) chipped in with two goals as five different Lady Monarchs earned one or more points en route to the win.The #7 Lady Monarchs will take on #6 Virginia Sunday afternoon in Charlottesville.
