Morgan Sumner joined Old Dominion as an Academic Advisor in January of 2020. She is the academic advisor for the football, rowing and men’s and women’s golf programs. She provides instructional support to student-athletes in academic content areas and assists them with understanding course material. Morgan also implements appropriate academic intervention strategies and monitors the continuing academic of student-athletes.
This is her second stop at Norfolk, as she spent the 2016-2017 school year working with ODU as a Student-Athlete Academic Assistant before working with the University of Kentucky as a Student-Athlete Academic Assistant for Football in her last job, where the team achieved its highest GPA under head coach Mark Stoops in the spring of 2019.
Morgan is a graduate of Radford University, where she earned a B.S. in Exercise Sport and Health Education with a concentration in Sports Administration and a supporting minor in Business Marketing. While attending Radford, she worked as a SORTS Program Academic Mentor and an Athletic Marketing and Promotions Intern.
Morgan also has a Master’s Degree in College Athletics Administration from Coker College.
