Eric Christiansen begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Monarch and Lady Monarch tennis programs.
During his first season with the Monarch and Lady Monarch programs, Christiansen helped the men's squad to a 25-8 overall mark, a No. 57 ranking in the ITA Poll, and a CAA Tournament finals appearance, and the women to a 19-10 overall mark.
Christiansen previously operated his own tennis academy in nearby Newport News, Virginia, working with top ranked juniors. He also served as an assistant tennis coach at Christopher Newport for the last two seasons along with being one of the top ranked open tennis players in the state of Virginia.
Collegiately, he played at the University of North Florida where he captained the Ospreys to a top five ranking in the nation in Division II. Christiansen was regionally ranked in singles and was a Top 20 doubles player and was an All-Conference student-athlete.
In the summer of 2006 Christiansen served as the Fed Cup Coach for the USTA/Mid Atlantic Section. The Mid-Atlantic team went 2-2 during the competition held in Danville, CA.
Christiansen currently resides in Newport News with his wife Jennifer. The couple recently welcomed a son, Rainer, on February 9, 2006.
