Old Dominion head women’s golf coach Mallory Hetzel announced the addition of Travis Lauterbach as assistant coach in February of 2017.

“We are excited to welcome Travis, his wife Lara and daughter Collins to the Monarch family,” Hetzel said. “Travis brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. He is committed to developing the person, the student and the athlete. He is very energetic and loves the game of golf. This is a tremendous hire for us, and I look forward to working with him going forward.”

Lauterbach comes to Norfolk from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama, where he spent his previous five years coaching both the men’s and women’s golf programs.

Over his five seasons at Faulkner, Lauterbach led the men’s and women’s golf programs to 19 tournament titles and 13 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) all-conference team selections. He also guided three student-athletes to SSAC Freshman of the Year awards, had one SSAC Player of the Year and four PING NAIA All-American selections under his tutelage.

Off the course, Lauterbach stressed the importance of academics, as three student-athletes at Faulkner were named NAIA Scholar All-Americans under his direction.

Prior to Faulkner, Lauterbach caddied full time for 3 years at some of the nation’s top courses including: Augusta National, Whistling Straits, TPC Sawgrass, Liberty National and TPC Potomac. He served as a caddie for Jack Nicklaus at Augusta National and for former president Bill Clinton while he was at TPC Potomac, among others.
