Ali Ford completed her first season as the graduate assistant for the Lady Monarch basketball program in 2016-17.

Ford, who played under Barefoot at Elon, joins the Lady Monarch staff after playing overseas in the Icelandic women’s league this past season.

In her college days, Ford scored a total of 2,020 points during her four-year career at Elon and ranks second on the school's all-time scoring list. She was a four-time All-SoCon selection and, while playing under Barefoot during the 2010-11 season, helped lead the team to its first-ever postseason tournament appearance in program history.

Ford is Elon's all-time leader in both three-pointers made (338) and free throw percentage (82.6%), while she also ranks fourth all-time in assists (393). In 2012, Ford was named the Stein H. Basnight Outstanding Athlete award winner at Elon, given to the university’s top female athlete that year. After graduating, she continued her playing career and represented the USA in the 2015 FIBA Games.

Ford's long list of basketball achievements continues, as she was the third leading scorer in the Icelandic women’s league last year and served as an operations intern for the Indiana Fever in 2012, when the team won the WNBA Championship. Coming out of high school, Ford was the North Carolina Athlete of the Year and a highly-touted recruit, and chose to sign with Barefoot and the Elon women’s basketball program.

Additionally, Ford served as team co-captain from 2010 to 2013 and was a four-time Academic All-Conference selection. Ford also starred on the softball diamond for Elon, where she was a team co-captain in 2014 and a two-time Academic All-Conference selection.

Ford graduated from Elon in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in sport and event management.
