Rene Rice begins her second season with the Lady Monarchs in the role of Director of Basketball Operations.
Rice is responsible for coordinating the Lady Monarchs travel as well as assisting with scouting duties and scheduling.
Rice came to Old Dominion after serving as a All-Star Challenge Intern with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). While working for the WBCA, Rice worked closely with the "WBCA All-Star Challenge" managing the athlete selection, coordinating travel plans for the participants, coaching staffs and volunteers, and working hand-in-hand with WNBA, ESPN, and USA Basketball during the event. She was also responsible for the logistics of the "WBCA Night of All-Stars" helping to coordinate facility management, game-day organization, and volunteer assignments. Rice also assisted with the WBCA's 25th Annual National Convention and the presentation of the Orbitz Coaches Trophy to the 2006 Women's Basketball National Championship Team.
Prior to her time with the WBCA, Rice pursued her masters degree in sports administration at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan while working as the Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports and Programming. As the graduate assistant, Rice assisted in the planning, organizing, and implantation of National Recreation Sports and Fitness Day and National Girls and Women in Sports Day. While at Central Michigan, Rice also served as a basketball instructor.
Rice received her undergraduate degree from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida, graduating in 2002 with a degree in telecommunication and film. She served as an assistant coach with the women's basketball team from 2001-2003.
