NORFOLK, VA-- Old Dominion sophomore forward Tim Hopkinson (Nottingham, England) was selected as the Disney Sports/NSCAA Men's Soccer National Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Hopkinson contributed two goals and an assist as the Monarchs captured the Stihl Soccer Classic with victories over two nationally ranked opponents. In a 4-0 win over #19 East Tennessee State, he scored ODU's second goal and assisted on the third. He also tallied the Monarchs' final goal in a 3-1 triumph over #13 Monmouth.
Hopkinson, who earned All-Tournament team accolades at the Stihl Soccer Classic, was also honored on the National Teams of the Week chosen by Soccer America and TopDrawerSoccer.
ODU is currently off to a 3-0 start and is ranked as high as #11 in national polls.
Hopkinson is the second CAA men's soccer player to be chosen as a National Player of the Week joining William & Mary's Nicolas Abrigo who was selected by Soccer America on Sept. 6.
