NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion Monarch and Lady Monarch soccer teams rarely take the field with one another, unless of course, it's for a good cause. On Saturday, they join forces as part of the Charity Kicks Soccer Clinic taking place at the Old Dominion Soccer Stadium beginning at 9 a.m.
The event, put on by the Harbor Front Kiwanis Club and the ODU Soccer teams, has been a staple in the soccer community for the last six years. The clinic gives youth players, ranging in age from kindergarten to eighth grade, a chance to improve their skills through instruction from both the coaching staff and players. Youth League coaches are invited as well and can attend a coaching clinic put on by the Old Dominion coaching staff.
Special event highlights include an autograph session, raffle prizes and a silent auction with the opportunity to bid on items such as MLS autographed apparel, ODU football, ODU basketball and ODU soccer tickets, plus golf outings at various courses throughout Hampton Roads.
For those attending, cost is $20 for an individual, $30 for a family and $120 for a team or group. All proceeds will go to charity. Those participating will receive a Charity Kicks t-shirt and are reminded to bring a ball, cleats and shin guards. Water will be provided and an athletic trainer will be on site.
