Feb. 20, 2010

NORFOLK, Va. - For the sixth consecutive season, ODU students enrolled in Sport Management classes were tasked with selling tickets to the annual WBCA Hoops for a Cure Pink Zone game to help raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. This year, Dr. Lynn Ridinger's students broke the previous mark for tickets sold by eclipsing the 600 mark for the first time.

With 617 tickets sold by 67 students, the Sport Management students raised over $3,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure charity. Stephen Adair led the way for Dr. Ridinger, selling 47 tickets, followed by Lauren Harper selling 27 for this Sunday's game. The 617 total tickets is a new record for the classes, breaking last year's mark of 598 total.

The actual amount raised was $3,093. In total, the Sport Management students have raised over $20,000 to the charity over the past six years.

Old Dominion will host James Madison this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the annual WBCA Pink Zone game, with a survivors reception and march prior to tip. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game and help Pink Out the Ted in support of this noble cause.
