NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University men's soccer will take on Virginia in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Charlottesville, the NCAA announced on Monday. The Monarchs made the 48 team tournament as an at-large qualifier and are in the tournament for the first time since 2007.

The Monarchs are 9-6-2 overall on the year. ODU's signature win was a 2-1 triumph over then second ranked North Carolina. The Monarchs also defeated NCAA participants William and Mary (1-0) and Coastal Carolina (1-0). The Cavaliers, the defending College Cup Champions, are 11-5-3 on the year.

"We're very excited to be back in the tournament," ODU head coach Alan Dawson said. "We deserved this opportunity. We play a very worthy opponent in Virginia and are excited to go play in the tournament."

Old Dominion is 6-9 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, last appearing in 2007 advancing to the third round.

The winner of the ODU versus UVA match will travel to Penn State on Sunday, Nov. 21 for a 3 p.m. match.
