Coach Larry Part of CAA Team at 4KayTM Golf Classic

Sept. 18, 2009

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion women's basketball coach Wendy Larry teamed up with three other Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) coaches to take part in the second annual 4KayTM Golf Classic, presented by Nike, at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.

Larry was joined by UNC Wilmington head coach Ann Hancock, William & Mary's Debbie Taylor and Hofstra's Krista Kilburn-Steveskey. The event boasted over 150 women's basketball coaches, administrators and supporters for an event that raised over $175,000. All proceeds were donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®, named in honor of long-time N.C. State coach Kay Yow, who passed away in February after a battle with breast cancer.

"For the second year in a row, we have had a national basketball coaches reunion focused on raising resources for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Foundation," said Larry. "As one of the founding tournament participants, I thought it would be awesome for the Colonial Athletic Association to be represented by an entire TEAM in the tournament field this year. Team CAA was well represented by Krista Kilburn-Steveskey, a former player of Kay's, Debbie Taylor, Ann Hancock and myself. It is my hope that CAA representation will continue to grow on a yearly basis."

Coach Larry and the Lady Monarchs continue to support breast cancer research with several fundraising events. Next Saturday, September 26, the Lady Monarch coaching staff and some players will be at the Honeybee Golf Course in Virginia Beach for Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament. ODU will be selling raffle tickets and mulligans in an effort to raise money for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer research organization.

ODU will once again host its annual HOOPS FOR A CURE game in February. Tickets to the James Madison game on February 21 will be sold in part to help support breast cancer programs and research.
