"We are obviously excited that this will be the first football homecoming at Old Dominion,"says head coach Bobby Wilder. "By solidifying this date and opponent, our campus community cannow start the planning process for what is sure to be an historic day."

Activities will include alumni reunions, a parade, concerts and other events to be announced at a later date.

The contest, originally scheduled for Oct. 3rd, was moved due to an NCCU scheduling conflict. TheMonarchs will now have an open date on Oct. 3.

"I am pleased that we will now have an open date on Oct. 3, "adds Wilder. "With three weeks of pre-season practice, an open date coming after the fourth regular season game allows for our playersto have a break seven weeks into the football season. After the open week, we will have sevenweeks of football to go."

The Monarchs open the 2009 season on Sept 5th against Chowan at Foreman Field. ODU (then theNorfolk Division of the College of William and Mary) last fielded a team 69 years again in 1940.
