Norfolk, Va. – The Old Dominion University football program increased its junior college recruiting class by two with the signing of quarterback Thomas DeMarco and defensive lineman Carlos Guglielmi. The Monarchs have signed a total of nine players who will join the team when classes resume for the spring semester.
DeMarco played last season at Santa Rosa Junior College in California. There he passed for nearly 1,800 yards with 14 touchdowns, while also adding eight rushing touchdowns.
Guglielmi is a native of Kelowna, British Columbia who also played in California at Butte College where he registered 25 tackles in 2008, while also adding three sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Two-year starter at SRJC… two-time first team All-NORCAL selection… named all-region in 2008… anchored an offensive line that helped the SRJC offense lead the nation in passing in 2008 and scoring in 2007 (42.7 ppg).

Named second team all-conference by the Southern California Football Association in 2008… following his senior year of high school played in the inaugural Navy Marine Corps All-Star Classic, featuring the top players from Southern California.

Started at left tackles for the Comets, earning All-Southern Division honorable mention honors in 2008… member of the All-Mission Conference Academic Team as a freshman.

Saw action in nine games during the 2008 season totaling 32 tackles (18 solo), 12 tackles for loss, three sacks and three forced fumbles.
Mateus Porter LB 6-1 220 Pacifica, Calif. Terra Nova / College of San Mateo
Ranked third on the team (12th in NORCAL Conference) in tackles in 2008 with 50, including 21 solo stops… also added seven tackles for loss and a sack.
Brandon Carr OL 6-2 260 Chesapeake, Va. Western Branch / ForkUnionMilitaryAcademy
Participated in the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Game in 2007… first team All-Tidewater at guard in 2006.
James Rainey OL 6-3 250 Virginia Beach, Va. OceanLakes
First Team All-Beach District at defensive end and offensive tackle in 2007… anchored an offensive line that helped the Dolphins lead the Beach District in total offense and average 28.7 points per game … first team All-Tidewater at defensive end.
