Letitia Lyons Wins NAADD Postgraduate Scholarship

CLEVELAND, OH-- Letitia "Tish" Lyons (Newport News, VA.) has been named a recipient of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) Postgraduate scholarship.

Lyons, who graduated earlier this month with a degree in biology/pre-medicine,will receive a $2,000 grant to be used toward post graduate studies. She plans to pursuea graduate degree in intercollegiate athletics administration, as well as sports medicine.She is a two-time member of the CAA All-Academic squad, and recipient of the ArthurAshe, Jr., National Sports Scholar award. Lyons served as the team captain and receivedthe "Miss Defense" award each of the past two seasons.

The award winners will be recognized at NAADD's 14th annual convention,June 7-10 at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, FL.

Lyons started 20 of 33 games and averaged 8.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Lady Monarchs who compiled a 24-9 record and won their 16th straight CAA Championship. She led the team in free throw percentage at .795. She scored a career high 19 points against Towson (2-15-07) and had a career high three steals against Hofstra (3-10-07).

Off the court Lyons was a minority mentor for underclassmen minorities andpreviously, she volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and the Rock-n-Roll HalfMarathon. She was also a Monarch Mentor for international students and a Relay for LifeVolunteer along with participating in the Buddy Walk for down syndrome children and Race for the Cure. Lyons is also a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Omicron Delta Kappa andThe Big Brother, Big Sister Program.
