The City of Norfolk will host a "Salute to the Monarchs" on Friday, April 8 at 12:00 in front of the City Hall building on Union Street. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
The event is designed to pay tribute the men's and women's teams at Old Dominion University. Both teams won CAA championships and advanced to their respective NCAA tournaments.
The teams will depart the Webb Center on the campus of ODU in a specially decorated HRT bus at 11:30 a.m. The bus will be escorted by Norfolk Police and ODU Police units.
The bus and escort vehicles are scheduled to arrive in the circle in front of City Hall at 11:50 a.m. The ODU Pep Band and Cheerleaders will begin performing on the steps of City Hall at 11:40 a.m.
Media parking will be available in the circle in front of City Hall. The event should conclude at 12:30 and the HRT bus is scheduled to return to ODU at 12:40 p.m.
