#2 Men's Soccer Looks to Extend Unbeaten Streak Friday Against VCU

Dec. 5, 2005

NORFOLK, VA-- Senior defender Trevor McEachron (Woodbridge, VA) and senior forward Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) were two of 54 college seniors nationwide selected to participate in the 2006 Major League Soccer Player Combine. For the third consecutive year, the annual combine will be held at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California from January 12-15, 2006.

Cvilikas, the 2005 CAA Player of the Year, led the conference in goals (15) and points (30) this past season. Through the course of the season, Cvilikas also picked up College Soccer News Player of the Week, Soccer America Player of the Week, and CAA Player of the Week. McEachron, named to the All-CAA First Team for the third time in his career, made an improbable comeback from seven knee operations to be one of the anchors of a Monarch defense that posted 12 shutouts in 21 contests. Both players played major roles in the Monarchs achieving a #10 seed in the NCAA tournament, the highest seeding in school history.

Coaches and general managers from all 12 MLS franchises will be in attendance during the Combine to scout talent for their annual MLS SuperDraft, which commences on Friday January 20th in Philadelphia, PA. Last year, 39 Combine participants were selected out of the four round, 48 slot draft, including New England Revolution star Michael Parkhurst, last season's MLS Rookie of the Year.

The initial list of players for the 2006 adidas Player Combine was determined by a select panel of Division I college coaches representing all conferences, who nominated and voted for players in conjunction with MLS coaches.

George Mason's Anthony Noriega and VCU's Stephen Shirley and Dominic Oduro were the other CAA competitors invited to the Combine.
