NORFOLK, VA--After running off an eight game unbeaten streak that has featured seven shutout victories and only one goal surrendered, the Old Dominion University Soccer Monarchs have advanced one spot in the NSCAA/adidas coaches' rankings to #2 in the country. ODU's unbeaten streak has run their record to 10-1-2 (5-0-1) on the season, and given them a four-point cushion in the CAA standings. The #2 ranking is the highest for the team since last being ranked #2 on October 6, 2003. The Monarchs are also ranked 6th by Soccer Times, and 7th by College Soccer News and Soccer America.
Senior netminder John Connelly (Rockville, MD) was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on the strength of back-to-back shutout victories against Northeastern and Hofstra.
