NORFOLK, VA--The Old Dominion Soccer Monarchs (4-0) moved up to fifthin the College Soccer News poll and seventh in the NSCAA/adidas Coaches poll after winning the Stihl Soccer Classic and freshman David Horst (Pine Grove, PA.) was named CAA Rookie of the Week. The freshman defender scored his first career collegiate goal in the win over Navy and played a key role in the Monarchs' defense that allowed just one goal in two games, including the win over Rutgers. ODU hits the road this weekend when they play at UMBC Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Monarchs are also ranked in national statistical. ODU is 28thin scoring offense at 2.25 per game, ninth in team goals againstaverage at 0.25 and sixth in shutout percentage at 0.75.
