Dear Friends and Associates,
On behalf of the Lady Monarch coaching staff and our players, I want to thank the many members of our faculty and staff, student body and community who supported our basketball team this season and throughout the CAA and NCAA tournaments. The support of our campus and the Hampton Roads community has been a cornerstone of our program and instrumental in our success.
I ask you to support us one more time this season, however, as our campus prepares to host the Mideast Regional tournament this weekend at the Constant Center. We are one of four sites in the nation hosting the "Sweet 16" with national television audiences tuned in on Sunday, March 28 and again for the regional final on March 30. While we are dissappointed that we won't be competing this weekend, poor attendance at these games will be equally dissappointing and will impact directly on our ability to win NCAA tournaments in the future. I like to believe Old Dominion helped put women's basketball on the national map. On Sunday, four of the best teams in the nation will square off in games at noon and 2:30 p.m. Single day tickets went on sale Monday at the box office. Let's show the nation that we support women's basketball and I look forward to seeing you in attendance.
