#3 Men's Soccer Take to the Road For Two CAA Contests This Weekend

NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion men's soccer team will host William & Mary Tuesday night at 7:00 in the quarterfinal round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.  The Monarchs, seeded #3 in the tournament, are 11-4-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the CAA, while the Tribe, seeded #6, are 9-6-4 and 4-4-1 in the CAA.  ODU defeated William & Mary 3-2 in overtime just two days ago.  The winner of this game plays #2 James Madison Friday night at 8:00 at VCU's Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond.  The championship game is Sunday, November 14, at 2:00.  Tickets are $4 for adults, $3 for students 17 and under and seniors, $2 for William & Mary students and free for the first 200 ODU students.

ODU is making their 14th consecutive appearance in the CAA Tournament, winning the 1991 title and making it to the 1993 championship game.  Last season, the Monarchs lost 1-0 to George Mason in the semi-final round of the tournament.  Dating back to 2000, ODU has dropped four straight CAA Tournament games.

 

The Monarchs have a 25-game home unbeaten streak on the line and a 21-game home winning streak.  The 21-game consecutive home wins ranks ninth all-time in NCAA history.

 

William & Mary is led in scoring by Senior Forward Brannon Thomas, with 11 points (three goals, five assists).  Sophomore Defender Brendan McCurdy leads the Tribe in goals, with four, including the first goal against the Monarchs Saturday night.  Sophomore goalkeeper Kris Rake has a 0.94 Goals Against Average, allowing only 19 goals in 19 games this season.  Rake has six shutouts.

 

The Monarchs are led by Senior Midfielder Kevon Harris (Kingston, Jamaica) with 16 points (six goals, four assists), and are led in scoring by Junior Forward Brian Cvilikas, with five goals.  Junior goalkeeper John Connelly (Rockville, MD) has a 1.09 Goals Against Average this season, with seven shutouts.  Connelly has allowed 19 goals in 17 games this season.
