ODU is 0-1 all-time against Duke, suffering a 2-0 loss in 1984. ODU is making its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, making it to the second round each time. This year, ODU received its first seeding in program history. The Monarchs, currently 13-5-2, have a 26-game home unbeaten streak on the line, as well as a 22-game home winning streak, which ranks 7th all-time in NCAA history.
Freshman Midfielder/Forward Tomek Charowski scored two second half goals for the Blue Devils Friday night to lead Duke to their 3-0 victory over Coastal Carolina. Charowski struck first at the 51:29 mark and again at the 77:06 mark. Junior Midfielder Danny Kramer scored Duke's first goal, at the 30:32 mark.
The winner of Tuesday night's game will face the winner of the #5 Notre-Dame-Ohio State match either Saturday, November 27 or Sunday, November 28. Should the Monarchs and Fighting Irish both advance, ODU would travel to Notre Dame for the third round.
