TGIF Event at Town Center to Raise Money for Breast Cancer Research

NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk, Virginia has proven to be one of the toughest cities for women's basketball opponents to play in according to a survey done by the Louisiana Tech Sports Information Office. The Lady Monarchs hold an 84.15 all-time winning percentage in Norfolk, which includes Scope, The Old Dominion Field House, and the Ted Constant Convocation Center, and ranks as the seventh winningest city among all Division I schools.

The Lady Monarchs were one of 11 teams last season to hold an undefeated record on their home court. Old Dominion went 17-0 last season at the Ted Constant Convocation Center which included a 14-0 regular season mark and 3-0 record in CAA Tournament action en route to its NCAA record 13th straight conference title. Since moving to the Ted Constant Convocation Center for the 2002-03 season, the Lady Monarchs hold a 31-4 all-time record in the building. Overall in Norfolk, Old Dominion has posted a 414-78 record.

Louisiana Tech (Ruston, La.) topped the survey, followed by Tennessee (Knoxville, Tenn.), and Montana (Missoula, Mt.). Utah (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Texas (Austin, Tx.) rounded out the top five.

Other cities of note are Chapel Hill, North Carolina which ranked 21st on the list, with the North Carolina Tar Heels owning a 324-91 record. The Lady Monarchs travel to Chapel Hill on Dec. 30th to face the Tar Heels.

In terms of arenas, Penn State's Bryce Jordan Center, which opened in 1996, has seen the Lady Lions play to a 100-18 record since its opening. The Lady Lions' home court ranks 10th among active arena in winning percentage. The Lady Monarchs will try to add to the loss column when they travel to State College on Dec. 19th.

James Madison's Convocation Center ranked 31st among active arenas in winning percentage. The Dukes hold a 223-63 all-time record on their home court. The Lady Monarchs will meet James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. on Jan. 6th.

The Ted Constant Convocation Center was not among the ranked active arenas. To be considered for the list a minimum of 50 games had to have been played in the arena.
