Norfolk, VA-Old Dominion senior midfielder Carlos Mendes (Mineola, NY) has been drafted by the Hampton Roads Mariners soccer team. Mendes was the twelfth pick overall in the first round of the draft.
The 1998 Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year was also a three-time All-CAA and All-State selection that led Old Dominion to two regular-season conference titles during his four years. He ranks third at ODU for career assists and 11th on the career scoring chart.
Mendes also received a try-out with D.C. United of the MLS.
