The ODU sailing center is complete with locker rooms, classrooms, showers, offices and a work area, the addition is the centerpiece for the waterfront sailing complex. Located adjacent to the sailing center, Old Dominion’s boathouse provides storage for the program’s fleet of 18 FJs, 8 Lasers, 6 420s and various support craft, and is also home to Old Dominion’s recreational sailing program. A 200-foot pier and launching ramp completes the complex.

The sailing center hosted the 2015 high school nationals, as well as the 2017 USODA (United States Optimist Dinghy Association) Nationals.

ODU recently hosted the ICSA National Championships which brought hundreds of student-athletes, coaches and fans to the edge of the Elizabeth River to see the best in collegiate sailing.

In 2020, the sailing center will again host the USODA Nationals, as well as the 2020 US Laser Class Nationals and the US Sailing Adult Single-handed Nationals.
