NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s soccer heads to Huntington, West Virginia to face #21 Marshall on Tuesday night at Hoops Family Field. The Monarchs currently have seven conference points and sit in ninth place in the Sun Belt with one game remaining.
ODU's game against the Thundering Herd on Tuesday will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
WHAT’S AT STAKE
Old Dominion has seven conference points with one game and three points remaining to try and move out of ninth place. The top eight teams make the Sun Belt Championship. ODU sits behind Georgia Southern (8) and Kentucky (8) who are in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Old Dominion fell to the Wildcats, 4-2 on October 2, 2026, and fell to the Eagles, 3-1 in Statesboro. Old Dominion could trigger a tiebreaker against one or both teams. However, the Monarchs would not advance over them due to losing in their respective head-to-head matchups.
ODU’s path to the Sun Belt Conference Championship is in the form of three points and other’s help. ODU needs to defeat Marshall by any goal difference and must keep an eye on Kentucky at Georgia State in Atlanta (7 p.m. kickoff) and UCF at Georgia Southern (7 p.m. kickoff). Ideally, ODU would like both teams to lose or draw to bring them to a maximum of nine conference points. With an ODU win, the Monarchs would climb to 10 points and would jump the conference foes on the final day. Since South Carolina (11) and Coastal Carolina (11) are four points away in the fifth and sixth seed, respectively, ODU would not be able to trigger a tiebreaker.

ODU picked up six yellows and Marshall earned five.

ABOUT MU:
Marshall is 9-2-4 and 5-1-2 in conference action to sit in first place in the SBC with 17 points.
