NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion sailing is headed to Annapolis, Maryland, Hampton, Virginia, Charleston, South Carolina, and Washington D.C., for four competitions this weekend. ODU competes in the Charleston Women’s Fall Regatta, the Open ACC in Annapolis, Maryland, and the Oysterbowl in Washington D.C. on October 10-11.

All four events last all day and take place on Saturday and Sunday.

The open sailing team sets off against six teams in the Open ACC’s Round 1B. This Cross regional is a national qualifier hosted by the Midshipmen with eighteen berths. This invitation is a cross regional regatta; The boats that are taking action are Club 420e (2-person double-handed) and the Flying Junior (2-person double-handed). 

Georgetown, Hobart and William Smith, Kings Point, Navy, Old Dominion, Saint Mary’s (Md.), and Princeton will be in action this weekend.

The women’s sailing team was invited to compete in the College of Charleston fall interconference against one school. The invitational is a College Sailing cross-regional regatta with six berths using Club 420e (2-person double-handed) and the Flying Junior (2-person double-handed). Christopher Newport, Kings Point, Old Dominion, and Quinnipiac fill out the six berths.

The open sailing team was invited to compete in a fundamental event against fourteen schools in the Oyster Bowl hosted by Georgetown. This invitation is a fundamental regatta; The boats that are taking action are Club 420e (2-person double-handed) and the Flying Junior (2-person double-handed). Cornell, Georgetown, Fordham, Navy, Old Dominion University, St. Mary's College (Md.), Pennsylvania will be in action this weekend.

The open sailing team is invited to compete in another fundamental event against seven schools in the Webb/Woolen Regatta hosted by the Captains. The invitational is a fundamental regatta; The boats that are taking action are Club 420e (2-person double-handed) and the Flying Junior (2-person double-handed). Christopher Newport, Delaware, Hampton, Kings Point, Virginia, Virginia Tech, William & Mary, and St. Mary’s (Md.).

UP NEXT:

ODU heads to Nassau County, N.Y. for the Open Nevins Trophy. The Silver and Blue women’s sailing team will be in St. Mary’s (Md.) for the women’s ACC Championship. All events will take place on Saturday, October 17-18. All events will last all day.
