NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's golf hosts the sixth annual Evie Odom Invitational this Friday and Saturday at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Originally scheduled as a three-day event, the Invitational has been adjusted to 36 holes on Friday and the final 18 holes on Saturday due to inclement weather expected in the area on Sunday. Friday will begin with an 8:45 am shotgun start, while Saturday’s final round will have a split-tee start from 8:30-10:50 a.m.
The course at Princess Anne is 5,800 total yards and has a par of 70. Live stats will be available through GolfStat.
This is the eighth year that the Silver and Blue are hosting a collegiate tournament at Princess Anne Country Club. Previously known as the Princess Anne Invitational, the tournament was renamed in honor of Evie Odom, who made the largest one-time donation to a women’s sport in ODU history.
In addition to the Monarchs, the 14-team field will include Belmont, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, Georgetown, Georgia, Lehigh, Louisville, North Florida, Penn State, Sacramento State, South Alabama, South Carolina, and William & Mary. There will also be 11 individuals for a total of 81 golfers competing in the tournament.
The lineup for ODU will consist of Puneet Bajwa, Barbara Car, Lucia Gonzalez, Ellie Johnson, and Darby Hancock. Julia Colombier and Tereza Fialová will also be playing as individuals. For Friday, the team will be paired with North Florida and Penn State. ODU’s lineup will start on holes 4-7, with Colombier going off from the 14th hole and Fialová on the 15th.
Car led the Monarchs at last year’s tournament, tying for 31st with a nine-over par 219. Maryland and Penn State were co-champions of last year’s Invitational after both teams shot 14-over par 854. South Alabama’s Daniela Palmeros was the individual champion with a four-under 206, while Maryland’s Surapa Janthamunee and North Florida’s Kaitlyn Schroeder tied for second with a pair of one-under 209s.
Bajwa has had ODU’s best individual performance in the history of the Invitational. The Mohali, India native placed second with a five-under 205 as a freshman in 2023, which led to her earning her first career Sun Belt Golfer of the Week honor. In the inaugural Evie Odom Invitational, alumni Jana Melichova handed in a four-under 206 to finish tied for third. ODU’s best finish as a team was also in 2023 when the Monarchs placed fifth with a 54-hole total of 866 (+26).
