NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer hosts Marshall for Faculty and Staff Night at the ODU Soccer Complex on Thursday, October 8 at 6 p.m. The Monarchs then head to Harrisonburg, Virginia for the latest chapter in the TowneBank Royal Rivalry at James Madison on Sunday, October 11 at 6 p.m.
Faculty and staff who bring their ODU or EVMS ID will receive free admission to Friday’s match. Both games will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
LAST MEETING:
Old Dominion drew Marshall, 0-0 in Huntington, West Virginia on Thursday, October 5, 2025. ODU finished the game with 17 shots and three shots on target while holding the Thundering Herd to just four shots and one shot on target.
Ashlynn Kulha scored in the first 10 minutes and Old Dominion’s defense held strong, holding the Dukes to four shots on target, as the Monarchs defeated JMU, 1-0 on Thursday, September 18 last season in Norfolk, Virginia. Old Dominion ended the night with 19 shots and six shots on target while also having a +4-corner kick attempt differential.
ABOUT ODU:
Old Dominion has not conceded a goal in 380 minutes of action and is 2-0-2 in its last four games. ODU is coming off a 1-0 win over South Alabama on Saturday night where Libby Holmes scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute. The Silver and Blue have conceded 17 total shots over the four-game span for an average of 4.25 shots per game.
The Monarchs rank first in the Sun Belt with nine goals allowed and hold opponents to 0.82 goals per game. ODU’s six shutouts rank second in the conference. ODU has yet to concede a goal in 360 minutes of SBC action and ranks first in both categories.
Hannah Morgan, a third year forward from Mullica Hills, New Jersey, leads the Monarchs in points and goals. She has scored four goals to tally eight points and has a shot on goal percentage of 83.3%.
Riley Mullen, a fourth year forward from Staten Island, New York, is tied for second on the Monarchs in points and ranks first on the team with three assists. Madison Telmer has scored two goals and provided one assist for five points and is tied with Mullen for second on the team in points.
ODU has split time between two goalkeepers. Ellie Goodrich has made seven starts and appeared in nine games. She has five shutouts, made 18 saves, and has a 78.3% save percentage. Goodrich earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, September 22 after recording a shutout in ODU’s 1-0 win over the Warhawks. Emily Earles has also seen time in net, she has made four starts and seven saves. Earles has recorded one clean sheet against Maryland in ODU’s 2-0 victory over the Terrapins.
ABOUT MU:
The Thundering Herd is coming off a 2-2 draw against Georgia Southern in Huntington, West Virginia and is 3-0-2 in its last five games. Marshall currently sits in fourth place in the Sun Belt and is tied with ODU with eight conference points. MU is led by head coach Rafa Simoes in his third season in Huntington.
Marshall has scored 21 goals and conceded 18 for a +3-goal differential for an average of 1.75 goals scored per game and 1.50 goals conceded per game. The Thundering Herd averages 13.9 shots and a 40.7% shot on goal percentage and concedes 12.3 and a 43.2% shot on goal percentage. Marshall has taken five penalty kicks and has a 80% success rate from the spot.
Wiktoria Mikrut and Geovanna Souza rank first and second in points on the Thundering Herd with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Mikrut has a team high five goals and three assists and Souza is tied for first on the team with four assists with Delfina Lombardi.
Emma Durand has started every game in goal for Marshall and has made 44 saves while stopping 71% of shots she has faced. Durand has two clean sheets this season and has a record in goal of 6-2-4.
ABOUT JMU:
James Madison is 5-5-1 and plays Arkansas State on Thursday, October 8 before gearing up to host the Monarchs on Sunday night. The Dukes have a 4-1 record at Sentara Park and are tied for second in the conference with a 3-1 record and nine conference points. The Dukes are led by head coach Joshua Walters Sr. in his ninth season in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
The Dukes have a +0-goal differential with 18 goals scored and conceded. JMU averages 10.6 shots per game and a 52.1% shot on goal percentage while allowing opponents to take 10.1 shots per game on 45% shot on goal percentage.
Ginny Lackey is far and away the Dukes’ leading player with 18 points from eight goals and two assists. Aleigha Arndt ranks second on the team with seven points from two goals and three assists. Ellie Farrell and Holly Minshull are both knotted at six points each, Farrell has two goals and two assists while Minshull has scored three goals. Lackey’s eight goals rank 24th best in the nation and is tied for second best in the conference.
Sofia Decerb has started every game in goal for the Dukes and has made 30 saves while recording one shutout and one combined shutout. She has faced 95 shots and has a save percentage of 68.2%.
