NEW YORK – For the fourth time this season, Old Dominion defender Serena Langendoen has earned a BIG EAST Player of the Week honor, securing Offensive Player of the Week accolades for her performance this past weekend, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Langendoen notched her first hat trick of the season and second of her career in Sunday’s 4-3 overtime win at Richmond. A native of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Langendoen got ODU on the board first for a 1-0 lead against the Spiders. Her second goal gave the Monarchs a brief 3-2 lead before UR sent the game to overtime, but Langendoen finished what she started by scoring the game-winner five minutes into overtime.
Along with Langendoen, Madison Zalewski was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Zalewski scored a goal in the win at Temple and registered two assists in the overtime win at Richmond.
Langendoen leads the BIG EAST and ranks fourth in the country with 15 goals.
ODU returns to Norfolk on Friday, Oct. 23 to host UConn at 3 p.m.
