NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer returns to the ODU Soccer Complex for an SBC matchup against South Alabama. The Monarchs face the Jaguars on Saturday, October 3 at 6 p.m. 

ODU’s game against USA will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available.

LAST MEETING:

The Monarchs defeated South Alabama, 1-0 on Friday, October 4, 2024 in Mobile, Alabama. The game was scoreless for 88 minutes until Laura Klebek scored the game winning goal. ODU ended the game with 20 shots and 11 shots on goal while the Jaguars had eight shots with one shot on goal.

ABOUT ODU:

Old Dominion has an overall record of 3-5-2 and are 2-1-2 in its last five matches. The Monarchs defeated Maryland, 2-0 and ULM, 1-0 and most recently drew Louisiana, 0-0 and App State, 0-0.

ODU has a +1-goal differential through eight games played and has conceded nine goals. The Monarchs average 8.6 shots per game and a 42% shot on goal percentage.

Hannah Morgan, a third year forward from Mullica Hills, New Jersey, leads the Monarchs in points and goals. She has scored four goals to tally eight points, has a shot on goal percentage of 83.3%, and ranks tied for ninth in the SBC in goals (4).

Riley Mullen, a fourth year forward from Staten Island, New York, is tied for second on the Monarchs in points and ranks first on the team with three assists. Madison Telmer has scored two goals and provided one assist for five points and is tied with Mullen for second on the team in points. Telmer scored a game-winning goal against Maryland in ODU’s 2-0 victory on September 3.

ODU defender Ashlynn Kulha was awarded Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, September 29. It was the fifth time in the fourth year defender's collegiate career that she has been named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week.

ODU has split time between two goalkeepers. Ellie Goodrich has made six starts and appeared in eight games. She has four shutouts, made 16 saves, and has a 76.2% save percentage. Goodrich earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, September 22 after recording a shutout in ODU’s win over the Warhawks. Emily Earles has also seen time in net, she has made four starts and seven saves. Earles has recorded one clean sheet against Maryland in ODU’s 2-0 victory over the Terrapins.

ABOUT USA:

The Jaguars are 1-1-1 in their last three games and have a 3-5-2 overall record. USA is 1-1-1 in SBC action to pick up four conference points. Most recently, South Alabama lost to Georgia State, 3-2 in Mobile, Alabama.

USA has scored 13 goals and conceded 15 for a -2-goal differential, the Jaguars average 1.3 goals per game while conceding an average of 1.5. South Alabama’s opponents have a +54-shot differential against them with 149 shots to 95 by USA.

Aliya Gomes has scored four goals and provided two assists to lead USA with 10 points, she is followed by Ava Arroyo and Victoria Rocci who both have five points from two goals and one assist. Andrea Lazar rounds out USA’s top four scorers with four points from two goals.

USA has fielded two keepers in net, Sierra Giorgio and Mackenzie Smith have both played in six games and made five starts. Giorgio has made 12 saves and has a save percentage of 70.6% while Smith has made 39 saves and has a save percentage of 79.6%.
