NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion sailing sets sail to Annapolis, Maryland, Hanover, New Hampshire, and Charleston, South Carolina for three competitions. ODU is competing in the Charleston Fall Regatta, and then the Women’s ACC Round One, and lastly the Van Duyne Trophy. Events this weekend take place October 3-4.

All events last all day and the report times are 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The open sailing team goes against five teams for the Van Duyne Trophy. This is a national qualifier hosted by the Midshipmen with 18 different berths. The boats that are taking action are ILCA 6 (single-person racing sailboats). Georgetown, Hobart and William Smith, Navy, Old Dominion, Princeton, and Saint Mary’s (Md.) will be in action this weekend.

The women’s sailing team was invited to compete in a cross regional event against five teams in round one of the Women’s ACC. The boats that are taking action are Club 420e (two-person double-handed) and the Flying Junior (two-person double-handed). Fordham, Georgetown, Hobart and William Smith, ODU, Princeton, and Saint Mary’s (Md.), will be in action this weekend.

The open sailing team was invited to compete in the College of Charleston Fall Regatta against four schools. The invitational is a college sailing cross-regional regatta with six berths using two person racing dinghies. Christopher Newport, Kings Port, Old Dominion, and Quinnipiac fill out the competition's berths.

ODU heads to Annapolis, Maryland for the Open ACC Round One, the Monarchs will also be in the nation's capital for the Oyster Bowl, and the Silver and Blues women's sailing team is in Charleston, South Carolina for the Charleston Women's Regatta. All three events will take place on Saturday October 10-11 and each event will last all day.
