NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion University Football defensive end Javen Gibson was named Defensive Player of the Week, the Sun Belt Conference announced on Monday.
Gibson had a career day in ODU’s 10-3 win at App State, securing four tackles for loss and two sacks.
Gibson was part of a defense that held the Mountaineers to 158 yards of total offense, the second fewest allowed by ODU in program history.
The three points ODU allowed were the fewest scored by App State since they were shut out by LSU in 2005, 24-0.
