NORFOLK, Va. - #23 Old Dominion men’s soccer heads to Lexington for a Friday night Sun Belt contest against Kentucky at 7 p.m. at Bell Soccer Complex.
The Monarchs’ game against the Wildcats will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
LAST MEETING:
ODU and #18 UK played out a fiery 1-1 draw in Norfolk, Virginia on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. UK’s Isaiah Chisolm scored the game’s opening goal in the 29th minute but a late equalizer from Lewis Rourke made the score 1-1. ODU had to dig deep after seeing two red cards in the final three minutes of action and had to defend a corner kick down to nine men. Kentucky’s delivery on the set piece didn’t locate any Wildcats in the box and the game ended 1-1.
ABOUT ODU:
Old Dominion is looking for its first Sun Belt Conference points after getting off to an 0-2 start. The Silver and Blue battled #4 South Carolina and fell, 2-1 in Norfolk and most recently fell to Georgia Southern, 3-1 in Statesboro, Georgia. ODU has had 13 different goalscorers, has outscored its opponents, 30-10, and has scored 5+ goals on three occasions.
The Monarchs have scored 30 goals through 10 games and have a scoring offense rating of 3.1 which both rank third best in Division I. ODU as a team has compiled 83 total points and ranks fourth best in the country. With 12 goals conceded Old Dominion has a +18-goal difference to sit fifth best in the country. The Monarchs average 9.2 points per game to rank sixth best in the nation. ODU has an average of 7.60 shots on goal per game rank and has provided 23 assists to rank ninth and 15th in D-I, respectively.
Lewis Rourke leads the Monarchs in points (15), goals (6), and is tied for first in assists (3). The Nottingham, England native is tied for 16th in the country in total points (15) and tied for 20th in goals (6). Rourke’s six goals and 15 points are second best in the Sun Belt and his 1.5 shots on goal per game rank fourth best.
Jason Purks ranks second on the Monarchs in points (13) and goals scored (5). The Oakwood, Ohio native’s 13 points are good for 35th in the nation and his five goals are tied for third in the SBC.
Both Purks and Alessandro Maldonado have taken two penalty kicks and converted both for a 100% success rate to rank tied for first in Division I. Maldonado scored two spot kick attempts to tie and win the game against William & Mary on September 22.
Fifth year transfer David Chapman has gotten off to a strong start as a leader in the back line. The 6-4 defender is an aerial threat on set pieces and has scored three goals. He has also chipped in two assists to tally eight total points to rank third on the Monarchs. Defender Ludovico Vicini has provided three assists and scored two goals for seven points to rank fourth best for the Silver and Blue.
Second year goalkeeper Alexander Aguilar has provided two assists and has logged 900 minutes in net to rank tied for second in the nation. Aguilar has made 31 saves to rank tied for first in the Sun Belt. The Manassas, Virginia native has recorded two shutouts to rank tied for fourth in the conference.
ABOUT UK:
Kentucky is looking for its first win of the season and is coming off a 1-1 draw against UCF on Sunday. The Wildcats opened Sun Belt action against Marshall at home and fell, 1-0 to the Thundering Herd.
UK has scored eight goals and conceded 17 for a -9-goal differential and average 13.6 shots per game. The Wildcats are 0-3-2 at home which includes a draw to Western Michigan, 2-2, a loss to Louisville, 3-2, and a draw to Evansville, 1-1 at the Bell Soccer Complex.
Costa Iliadia leads the Wildcats with seven points from two goals and three assists followed by Michael Lee’s five points from two goals and one assist. Gustav Renman has played in every game for UK and scored one goal for two points.
The Wildcats have fielded three goalkeepers this season but Benjamin Rasmussen has been the most consistent face in goal. He has played and started six games while Gilles Monti has made two starts. Dillon Griner has appeared in one game and played 53 minutes. Rasmussen has made 20 saves and conceded 11 goals, Monti has six saves to his name and has conceded four goals, and Griner made two saves in his appearance.
