NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's golf begins its fall season at the 2026 Golfweek Fall Challenge, which will be held at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club this Sunday through Tuesday, Sept. 6-8, in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Caledonia Golf & Fish Club has a par-71 course that is 6,004 yards. The three-day tournament will have split-tee starts beginning at 7:30 a.m. each morning and live stats will be available through GolfStat.
ODU will be one of 23 teams competing in the tournament. Joining the Monarchs in Pawleys Island will be Arkansas State, Austin Peay State, Campbell, Central Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, High Point, Lipscomb, Memphis, Mercer, Morehead State, Presbyterian, Queens, Radford, Stephen F. Austin, Stetson, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Troy, UNC Asheville, UNC Greensboro, UNCW, and USC Upstate. Additionally, Miami (Fla.) will have two individuals playing.
The lineup for the Monarchs will consist of third year Barbara Car, the reigning Sun Belt Championship individual medalist, as well as fellow returners and fourth years Puneet Bajwa and Lucia Gonzalez. Joining them are a couple of newcomers, first year Ellie Johnson and second year Darby Hancock, who transferred to ODU from Division II Florida Southern College.
The Silver and Blue are competing in the Golfweek Fall Challenge for the second year in a year. In 2025, the Monarchs finished 15th in the team standings with a combined 54-hole total of 35-over par 887.
Car, a native of Vodice, Slovenia, set a new program record with a six-under 65 in the final round of the tournament. Tied for 26th at the start of the day, her final push lifted her into a tie for fourth at two-under 211. Bajwa also cracked the Top 15, tying for 11th with an even score of 213.
