KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Old Dominion men’s soccer remained in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 at #15 in the fifth poll of the season, the association announced on Tuesday afternoon. The Monarchs are also ranked #12 by TopDrawer Soccer.
ODU suffered its first setback of the 2026 campaign against the now #1 South Carolina on Friday, September 18 to fall to 7-1 and 0-1 in the Sun Belt. ODU head coach Tennant McVea is in his third season at the helm of the Monarchs and is aiming to secure his 20th win of his coaching career. ODU has had 12 different goalscorers, has outscored its opponents, 28-9, and has scored 5+ goals on three occasions.
The Monarchs’ 28 goals, 79 total points, and scoring offense (3.5) all rank second best in the nation. Old Dominion averages 9.8 points per game which ranks third best in Division I and has a +19-goal difference to sit fourth best in the country. ODU has an average of 8.86 shots on goal per game and have provided 23 assists to rank fifth and sixth in D-I, respectively.
Lewis Rourke leads the Monarchs in points (15), goals (6), and is tied for first in assists (3). The Nottingham, England native is tied for fourth in the country in total points (15), tied for sixth in goals (6), tied for 38th in shots on goal per game (1.71), and tied for 50th in total assists (3). Rourke’s six goals are tied for first in the Sun Belt and he was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week on September 8, 2026.

The 2026 Jeff and Billye Athletics and Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony is set for Friday, Sept. 25 at Chartway Arena.
Forward Tim Hopkinson will be honored along with four other inductees. Hopkinson was a semifinalist for the prestigious MAC-Hermann Trophy and won the fan poll. He earned Second Team All-American honors after finishing the 2013 season as the nation’s 11th leading scorer and ranked 15th in total points. He ranks fourth in ODU men’s soccer history with 33 career goals, third with 85 career points, and ranks seventh all-time with 19 career assists.
