NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer travels to College Park to face Maryland at Ludwig Field on Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m.

LAST MEETING:
ODU defeated Maryland, 2-0 at the ODU Soccer Complex on August 24 last season. Gry Boe Thrysoe opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Ashlynn Kulha gave the Monarchs an insurance goal shortly after the halftime break and ODU’s defense held the Terrapins to one shot in 90 minutes.
ABOUT ODU:
ODU has a 1-4 record through five games played. Two of the Monarchs’ losses were against teams that sit at the top of the national rankings. The Monarchs went toe-to-toe against #2 Duke and the now #5 ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons. ODU lost by one goal to both. Virginia Tech, who the Monarchs opened the season against, received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25.
Fourth year forward Riley Mullen and third year forward Hannah Morgan lead the Monarchs in total points with four each. Mullen opened her scoring tally against #2 Duke and has provided two assists. Morgan is the team’s leading goalscorer with two goals. Fourth year midfielder Madison Telmer ranks third on the team with three points from one goal and one assist. Fourth year defender Sydney Somers and fifth year midfielder Ally Richardson have each chipped in one goal apiece.
Fourth year goalkeepers Ellie Goodrich and Emily Earles have split time in net through five games. Goodrich has made three starts and appeared in four games and Earles has made two starts for the Monarchs. Goodrich has allowed four goals, made 11 saves, and kept one clean sheet. Earles started last time out against #2 Duke and made four saves against the Blue Devils.
ABOUT MARYLAND:
The Terrapins are 0-1-1 in their last two games against Virginia Tech (2-2) and Navy (2-0). Maryland got off to a 2-0 start after defeating Fordham, 1-0 in their opening game and Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-1 four days later. Michael Marichiano is in his third season at Maryland and previously coached men’s soccer for three years at Drexel.
Jolie Farmer has scored four goals and provided one assist for nine points to lead Maryland. Ella Petry has scored one goal for two points to rank second and Lilly Bane provided one assist for one point to rank third on the team.
Maryland averages 1.25 goals per game and concedes an average of 1.25 goals against them. They have taken 51 shots (12.8 per game) and have a shots on goal percentage of 53%. The Terrapins have taken 16 corner kicks across four games.
